Media Advisory: Rooney to Present Medals to WWII Veteran at Punta Gorda Flag Day Ceremony
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney (FL-16) will attend the Flag Day Ceremony in Punta Gorda on Thursday, June 14, where he will present Port Charlotte resident Paul Grube with four medals earned during his service in World War II.

Mr. Grube served as a Medium Tank Crewman in the United States Army from 1940-1945. He received a Purple Heart and Good Conduct Ribbon in 1945. Congressman Rooney’s office worked with the Army to ensure that Mr. Grube will receive the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one Silver Service Star, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal that were promised to him when he was discharged.
