Rooney: House Energy Bill Will Create Jobs, Ease Pain at the Pump
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney (FL-16) issued the following statement today after the House of Representatives passed the Domestic Energy and Jobs Act, which would create jobs and reduce energy costs by expanding American energy production:
“Like my comprehensive jobs bill, the bill we passed in the House will tear down some of the roadblocks that stand in the way of American energy production, so that we can start putting people back to work. By safely producing more American energy, we can create jobs right away in the energy sector, ease pain at the pump for Florida’s families, and give our small businesses some relief so they can grow and hire new workers. President Obama should demand that Harry Reid bring this bill to a vote in the Senate right away.
“We can’t fuel our country or create jobs through wasteful spending programs like Solyndra – we need all-of-the-above energy solutions, and that’s what we’re passing in the House. We’ve sent 30 jobs bills to the Senate that are still waiting for votes – it’s time for the Senate to act.”
